Did you know that Invisalign has helped more than 8 million patients achieve their smile goals over the last two decades? Today, the clear aligners are most known for their discreet look, comfortable fit, hassle-free oral care, and shorter treatment timeline (on average). Despite their popularity, however, many patients have one important question on their minds, “What is a typical day like while wearing Invisalign?” Here’s the answer!

Your Morning Routine with Invisalign

Whether you begin your day at 4 A.M., 7 A.M., or 10 A.M., your morning routine with Invisalign will look the same. First, remove your aligners and give them a quick rinse under some clean, running water. Next, place them in their designated case while you brush and floss your teeth. Once complete, give your trays a good scrub with an Invisalign-friendly brush and cleaner. To prevent you from having to do the whole process twice, it’s a good idea to eat breakfast and drink your coffee beforehand. Extra points if you place them in some cleaning crystals while you enjoy the most important meal of the day!

Lunchtime with Invisalign

Since you must wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, your breakfast should keep you full until lunchtime. Before eating, make sure to remove your trays, rinse them off, and place them in a secure case. Eat a well-balanced meal filled with nutrient-dense foods to ensure you won’t be tempted to snack throughout the afternoon (if you’re having trouble with this, consider adding a protein shake to your lunch). Once you’ve finished, brush your teeth, rinse off your trays again, and place them securely back in your mouth.

Your Evening Regimen with Invisalign

Dinner with Invisalign will look a lot like breakfast and lunch (remove them, rinse them off, place them in a storage case, etc.). When you complete your oral hygiene routine that evening, it’s of the utmost importance that you clean your teeth and your trays thoroughly. After all, any food particles, debris, and residue left on your aligners will have a chance to wreak havoc on your teeth and gums during the 7+ hours you sleep. So, make sure to brush for two full minutes, floss between each tooth, and rinse with mouthwash for 30 to 60 seconds.

When it comes to orthodontic treatment, Invisalign is one of the most stress-free options available. However, there are a few changes to your routine you’ll need to make. Fortunately, they are well worth the jaw-dropping smile you’ll have at the end of your treatment!
